What is it?
Carrow Hill House is a 16 bed registered care home for people who have experienced homelessness and have long-term care needs, including mental health issues. Carrow Hill House is a 19th century, Grade ll house originally built for the Manager of nearby Colman Foods. Various improvements and restorations have been made by the Trust since the mid 1980’s when it was first leased from Norwich City Council. The large garden is a notable feature of the site. This includes a vegetable garden where residents can grow their own food.

What happens there?
Allocation procedures and revenue support arrangements are in place with Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Trust and Norfolk Adult Services. Nominations into placements at the home are made from across the county by health and social care professionals.
Every resident has their own bedroom. A full meals service is provided in a well-appointed dining room. There are a number of lounges.
Residents are assessed and activity programmes are built around their interests. Individual and group trips include shopping expeditions, trips to the cinema and theatre, to Norwich City Football Club and sometimes further afield.
A recent innovation at Carrow Hill Home has been the introduction of a 6-bed unit specifically for people with an alcohol addiction who have already completed a medically supervised de-toxification programme. Nominations into placements at the unit (which normally last up to 6 weeks) are made from across the county by health and social care professionals.
