Group Homes
The Trust manages a number of shared houses, which act as a stepping stone towards independent
accommodation.
Temporary Accommodation
Temporary accommodation on behalf of Norwich City
Council for single homeless people whose homelessness
status is being investigated under the Homelessness Act.
Accommodation is in shared houses and is a more homely
alternative to bed and breakfast. It also give the
Trust the opportunity to work with the individual on an
appropriate support package for both the immediate and
longer term.
Contact, Assessment and Prevention Service (CAPS)
The CAPS team at St. Martins Housing Trust works mainly with rough sleepers and vulnerably
housed people in the Norwich area. The five person team also works creatively to prevent
homelessness.
The team is based at 7 Upper Goat Lane, Norwich,
telephone (01603) 666764. They are open as a
drop-in service Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm (Wednesday
9am to 1pm) and also by appointment. They work on the streets
with those sleeping rough, late at night and in the early hours of the morning. They make a
definitive count of the numbers sleeping rough each week. Their object is to engage with rough
sleepers and follow up their contacts during the day in order to meet their contact’s housing
and other needs.
The team sees 60 to 70 people a week in addition to those encountered at night rough sleeping in
Norwich. They can provide travel to verified bed vacancies anywhere in the country and will look
sympathetically on any problem presented by a vulnerable person in need.
Facilities
In-house catering, domestic and maintenance services.

The Bigger Picture:
The Trust does not work in isolation, but is part of the broader movement in Norwich and the
surrounding area. It works with other voluntary organisations, housing associations , community
networks and church groups to help build a better life for homeless people.
St Martins Housing Trust is a progressive and developing charity constantly, adjusting to the
needs of homeless people. Over the last few years the needs of people accessing our services,
and their needs, have changed dramatically. We are seeing a growing number of young people,
women and people with mental health and substance misuse.
